The Arizona State University and University of Arizona rivalry is one of the longest rivalries in the country. It dates back nearly 110 years with the first game being played on Thanksgiving Day 1899. The NCAA has certified the ASU and UA rivalry, The Territorial Cup as the oldest rivalry award given in college football. The Alumni Classic will benefit from this history and this rivalry throughout the entire State of Arizona. The Alumni Classic is already one of the most widely anticipated events on the 2009 calendar.
